In a subsequent search, authorities found and seized 8,000 to 10,000 pills suspected to be fentanyl. The pills were in multiple plastic bags on the floor of the vehicle, police said.
Both deaths were preliminarily ruled homicides, according to the coroner’s office, and they each died of gunshot wounds.
With the assistance of Merrillville police, the accused was taken into custody in the 1300 block of 83rd Avenue in Merrillville, according to police.
